The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names (ICANN) has described as unprecedented the number of applications received for 2023 ICANN leadership positions, reports ITREALMS.
"I am pleased to report that the 2023 Nominating Committee (NomCom) has received an unprecedented 155 completed applications for this year's open ICANN leadership positions. The application period closed on 30 March 2023," ICANN sources revealed.
An update from the 2023 Nominating Committee (NomCom 2023) endorsed by the chair, Vanda Scartezini and made available to ITREALMS, indicated that they received 155 completed applications for this year's open ICANN leadership positions.
In addition, ITREALMS equally gathered that 27 per cent of the applicants were females, and 59 per cent were male, just as 14 percent did not disclose.
ITREALMS recalled that opened leadership positions include two members of the ICANN Board of Directors, one member of the Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) Board of Directors, three regional representatives to the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) with one each from the Africa region; the Asia, Australia, and Pacific Islands region; and the Latin America and Caribbean region in that order.
Equally, opened positions consist of two members of the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council with one representing the Contracted Parties House and Non-Contracted Parties House respectively, in addition to one member of the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) Council.
