Bimbo Abioye emerges ISPON president - ITREALMS

The Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) has elected Bimbo Abioye as the latest president alongside eight others, for the next two years as members of the Executive Council, reports ITREALMS.

Abioye emerged president at the just concluded Annual General Meeting (AGM) of ISPON held in Lagos, Friday.

He takes over from the immediate past president, Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu.

ITREALMS gathered that others also elected council members comprised Mrs. Fatumata Soukouna-Coker as 1st Vice President, Efe Emore as General Secretary, Mr. Raymond Osumah as Treasurer with Dr. Uche Mbanaso emerging as Chair, Policy & Strategy Committee.

Other committee chairs include Prof. Yakub Aliyu for Diaspora; Uzo Nwani, Media & Publicity; Peter Ogedengbe, Education & Capacity Building Committee; and Israel Olakanmi, Membership Committee. 

As at the time of the election, ITREALMS recalled that Mr. Bimbo Abioye is the Managing Director of Fintrak Software and was the immediate past 1st vice president of ISPON.

In his acceptance speech, Abioye in his acceptance remarks, pointed out on the need to grow and enlarge the association by bringing benefits and clear value for members of ISPON,

He pledged to work with relevant stakeholders to promote software Nigeria and intensify efforts at making the association a chartered body.

Also, he stressed the importance of creating special fund for software development in the country through engagement with Bank of Industry and Central Bank of Nigeria.

Established in 1999 with the aim of creating an enabling environment for local content developers. ISPON prides itself as the industry professional body for indigenous software developers and practitioners in Nigeria.
