SAT calls for proactive upgrade of Lagos healthcare centres - ITREALMS

The Lagos State Advocacy Team (SAT) has called for proactive steps to upgrade the healthcare facility at the Akinogun primary health centre, reports

This call was made during an advocacy visit to the supervisory councillor of Mosan Okunola Local Council Development Authority (LCDA), Honourable prince Akeem Adeyemi in his office on Monday.

Speaking on behalf of the Team lead, TB Coordinator, Mrs Ifelunwa Aipoh applauded the efforts of the Supervisory Councillor of Health, Ministry of Health (MoH), and Health educators in resolving some of the issues at Akinogun primary health centre such as provision of new water tank (GP tank), defaced signpost resolved, replacement of leaking roofs, proper disposal of waste, cleanliness efforts to tidy up the facility, bad toilet replaced by World Health Committee (WHC) among others.

"We're happy with the speed with which you responded to issues identified at the PHC in resolving them, however, we appealed that you attend to the remaining issues," Aipoh said.

Other unresolved issues, she said include need for air-conditioner at the laboratory (pharmacy), usage of old wooden benches to be replaced with latest plastic chairs and additional security guard to assist the main personnel.

Responding, the Supervisory councillor of health, Mosan Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Alimosho LGA, Hon. Prince Akeem Adeyemi appreciated the team's consistent effort and promised to talk to the Coordinator of the neighborhood watch for a security guard to be seconded to the facility.

While, on the issues of plastic chairs and the air-conditioning of the laboratory, he said they will be adequately addressed.

The SAT visitations to Mosan Okunola LCDA were NEPHWAN Coordination, Mr Patrick Akpan, ATM State Coordinator, Mrs Bunmi Tejumola, ATM State Programme Officer, Ms Temitope James, Mrs Oluwatoyin Adeoye of Tendercare Initiatives, among others.
