The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has denied any wrong doing in a viral clamping video of a customer vehicle at Health Plus Pharmacy premises in Allen, Ikeja-Lagos, alleging the company was in default of parking permit, reports ITREALMS.
ITREALMS gathered that the charge per slot differs depending on the location, just as it could be as high as N100,000 and as low as N80,000 per parking slot annually with a nonrefundable N50,000 payment for processing charge.
LASPA claimed that Health Plus Pharmacy shunned payment of the annual corporate parking/set back levy.
In the viral video available to ITREALMS, a customer's Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) was clamped without any explanation at premises of Health Plus Pharmacy in Allen, Ikeja-Lagos.
This video, ITREALMS gathered, went viral because the customer was obviously bewildered on why the clamp in a parking slot and even in front of business premises, which was not along the road.
The officials of LASPA at the scene could not offer any explanation to the victim but rather took turn to also make video of the lady victim, who sought for explanation that never came until her car was unclamped and officials and supposed police task force team with them left the premises.
But LASPA in attempt to save face amidst public outcry over the unpopular clamp, exonerated her staff of any wrongdoing.
In efforts at setting the records straight, she outlined some issues allegedly that led to clamping the tyre of the vehicle parked in front of Health Plus premises.
According to the General Manager of LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu in a press statement available to ITREALMS noted that with the mandate to monitor private and commercial facilities to forestall indiscriminate parking along roads and setbacks in the State, had in December 2022 demanded via a notice for year 2023 parking levies to corporate organisations including Health Plus Pharmacy.
"... And thereafter, circulated reminders that were duly acknowledged by defaulting organisations," she said.
The officers seen in the video, she said, were on a final visit to seek payment for legitimate levies due to the Lagos State Government. It is evident that the officials were non confrontational and professional in their conduct during the exercise.
LASPA did not however, provide any evidence of demand notices served to the company as at the time of the press.

With all due respect madam , your defense of your staff is as provoking as their actions. The parking space Infront of the pharmacy, is it a private space or government road? Their failure to say anything to the victim, the unwarranted delay is no longer acceptable. Please let us be CIVIL AND CIVILIZED.
