The chairperson, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA), Mrs. Ibukun Abimbola Odusote, has been honoured by the college of fellows of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), reports ITREALMS.
Mrs Odusote, who is also the founder of Digital Peers International was represented at the occasion by a serving member of Trustee, Sir Remmy Nweke, while the plague was presented by the former President, Computer Professionals (Registration Council) of Nigeria (CPN), Prof. Mrs Adenike Osofisan, who was equally NIRA BoT.
According to the Provost, College of Fellows, Mrs. Veronica Ola Owolabi, the honour by the college of fellows of NCS is to further stimulate its fellows who keep soaring in the industry as they take up new roles, so as to encourage the young ones and membership of NCS.
ITREALMS recalled that Pastor (Mrs.) Ibukun Abimbola Odusote, was until her latest appointment as chairperson of the NiRA Board of Trustees, the secretary.
An astute technocrat, Mrs. Odusote, a pioneer administrative contact for the .ng ccTLD and later became one of the pioneer Board of Trustees (NIRA-BOT), retired from the Nigeria civil service, after attaining the age of 60 in 2020 as the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Environment
Her work experience traversed Information Technology (IT) in the educational and professional sector till late 2009 when she became the Director Information Technology Department, Federal Ministry of Information and Communications and was later promoted to the position of a Permanent Secretary.
She had served the Nation in various ministries, including the Ecological Funds Office, Federal Ministry of Power, Federal Ministry of Environment, Federal Ministry of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, and Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Political Affair Office (SFG), Office of Head of Service, and Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity.
Currently, Mrs. Odusote is the National Coordinator, Digitest, a project of the Digital Peers International (DPI).
NITMA 2023 was attended by notable industry personalities including the pioneer NIRA BoT chairman, Dr. Isaac Odeyemi, alongside other pioneer BoT including the Dr. Chris Nwannenna who was former President of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) and Prof. Mrs. Osofisan.
Meanwhile other notable Nigerians were recognised including the Managing Director of AlphaBeta Consulting LLP, Otunba Akin Doherty and the first lady of Bauchi State, Hajiya (Dr) Aishatu Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed with honourary fellowships of NCS.
