The youths have been charged to remain focused and committed in their studies so as to achieve their set goals cum aspirations not minding their immediate environment to be an obstacles in their educational pursuits, reports ITREALMS.
Ms Chioma Ejere reiterated the organisation's aim in fostering academic excellence among the students, giving scholarships to those who are financially constraints for their tertiary education, Information Technology (IT) training, skill acquisitions and empowerment for the Ajegunle-bred teenagers.
The Convener advised the students not to be limited by their immediate environment as they can compete academically with their counterparts in an high-brow areas.
"Don't allow Ajegunle to determine your altitude in life neither subject to peer pressure however, make use of your time because to whom brain is given, sense is expected," she said.
Speaking on developing achievable goals, Director, De Rising Star Safety Tools Limited, Mr. Enujekwute Ifeanyi Jonathan enjoined the students to remain focused, be positive minded, study hard, to achieve success as some of the the people celebrated today were from poor and noble background whom scales the hurdles to be recognised around the world.
"Some of the great men and women you hear their names around the country all over the world came from very poor background but they didn't allow their environment or family background to keep them below rather the poverty made them to study hard and focused to rewrite the story of the family in different sectors of the economy" he said
Mr. Enujekwute cited an instance with the social media as an obstacles limiting the students, due to abuse of social media by them.
"Ordinarily, students don't need phone. Limit the use of social media if it's not for educational purposes, Stop looking at celebrity, desist from it and help yourself to remain committed in your educational pursuits," he advised.
Also speaking, the President and Founder, Impact Stars International, Dr. Impact Goodman Vine Umunna who talked on the "Health Consequences of Alcohol and Drug Abuse" warned the youth to stay clear of any drug or alcohol abuse as these mar their future and endanger their lives.
Dr. Umunna equally cited parental influence, peer influence, environment, social status as some major influencers of youths involvement in drugs and alcohol.
He frowned at the health implications which are mental disorders, wrong perceptions of life as being unworthy, depression, irrational behaviours, personality disorders, suicidal thoughts, wrong craving desires and demonic operations thereby warning the youths.
ITREALMS gathered that over 100 students from various Secondary Schools in Ajegunle-Apapa which includes Givic College, Oluwa Senior School, Alakoto Senior School, Great Vertex College, Topfield College, Greek Senior School and Highstone College were in attendance.
Highlights of the programme are Fastest fingers for mobile users(students), advice cum encouragements from guests and teachers to the students, questions and answers session, giving of palliatives to students.
