Giving a health talk on "Hypertension" a public health official from Ogun State Ministry of Health, Mr. Wale Adebamowo described hypertension as a silent killer which have affected many who were not aware due to lack of frequent checkups.
"When you visit the health centre, one of the first checkup is your blood pressure because many people are hypertensive but they do not know, the only way to know is checkup. This is because blood pressure triggers stroke and heart attack, so it is imperative to check your blood pressure always," he said.
Adebamowo attributed the causes of high blood pressure to genetic transmission, smoking, alcohol intake, processed foods, physical inactivity and high salt intake while the signs may be headache or lack of sleep.
"Hypertension is genetic if any of your parents is hypertensive ,there is possibility for such a person, also sitting at a spot without an exercise like walking," he said.
He outlined preventive measures as reduction of high saturated fat content, avoid cigarettes or tobacco smoking, boiling or cooking foods is preferable than frying, salt reduction, also adopt use of food spices such as crayfish, locust beans than seasonings.
"Avoid fried foods, cook your food as boiled foods are more healthier, artificial seasoning, use natural spices like iru, crayfish, shrimps, to enhance your soup's taste," he advised.He further urged the residents of the community to take care of their health, embrace routine checkups to determine their blood pressure as early detection is cost effective than complications.
"Visit health facility, prevention is far better and cheaper than cure as the cost of drugs is cost effective for early detection and more costlier for complications," he declared.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Dorcas Abraham appreciated the organisation for their consistency in bringing reliefs to the less privileges and vulnerables, as she benefited from last year's initiatives.
She, however pledged to follow all the health's advice and use the free drugs effectively.

Dobar dan, moj upit o tome kako dobiti kredit za kupnju kuće od nekretnina počeo je pozivom, nazvao sam Davidson Albert Company, danas sam jako sretan i Bog blagoslovio Davidsona Alberta Kontakt e-mail: {Davidsonalbertloan@gmail.com }
