Ikeja Rotary club donates borehole to Oremeji community @Oshodi - ITREALMS

The Rotary Club of Ikeja has completed and donated a borehole to the Oremeji community Adeyemi-Arowojobe Community Development Association (AACDA)(AACDA) in Oshodi-Lagos State, reports ITREALMS.

Rotary International comprises members imbibed with the spirit of humanitarianism are giving freely their talent, their treasure and their time to the needy in the society. 

This project has alleviated the pains of the masses by the President of the District who attracted the project to the residents having seen what his residents go through in trying to buy water from shylock water sellers.

Commissioning the borehole at a handover ceremony, last weekend, the President, Rotary Club of Ikeja, District 9110, Chief Emeka Ibe, said that the completion of this project was based on the ceaseless passion for community development by the Club especially those members present at the event.

He also said that the gesture is in line with the dictum of Rotary International to partner with government to give succour to the needy in the society and warned that it is a voluntary donation, “therefore not for commercial purposes and everybody is entitled to fetch water from the borehole at no cost or hurdle.”

Chief Ibe who was accompanied by the incoming President of the Club, Rotarian Kayode Shittu among others described the community as lucky.

The community appointed board of trustees called the Water Corps Board to oversee the smooth running of the project and maintenance to benefit all concerned to reflect the desires of the Rotary Club of Ikeja.

The chairman of the board of trustees, the Water Corps Board, Mr. Olawale Ogunsiji in his welcome address assured the Club that the project would be taken care of under his leadership and they will not be disappointed.

Ogunsiji, who was represented by the General-Secretary of the Adeyemi-Arowojobe Community Development Association (AACDA), Hon. Noah Abinukole appreciated the club members for the wonderful gesture and urged the Club to carry out more need assessment in the community to discover other areas of support for the residents.

The taskforce chairman of the community and designated Secretary of the Water Corps Board, Elder George Okoye, in his vote of thanks emphasised that Chief Ibe's presence in their community has been a blessing, and reiterated the community applause for the club at this time.

ITREALMS gathered that later, the official commissioning and handover was performed by the President of the club, Chief Ibe, assisted by the incoming President, Rotarian Shittu in company of other dignitaries, including the executives of Oremeji Residents Association, led by the Vice Chairman, Mr. Adeyemo Adewale Nurudeen, and Secretary, Hon. Nurudeen Giwa, to name a few.
