ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!
The National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) are working out details to leverage telecommunications channels for promotion of the nation’s rich cultural heritage, reports ITREALMS. This follows the meeting of the two Federal Government establishments on Thursday at the Federal capital Territory, Abuja led by their chief executive officers, Otunba Biodun Ajiboye and Dr. Aminu Maida in that order.
Sources emanating from the meeting of the two agencies informed ITREALMS that this was top on the agenda when Otunba Ajiboye led NICO team to NCC and were received by the EVC, Dr. Maida on a courtesy visit.
“The meeting provided a platform for both leaders and their teams to discuss leveraging telecommunication channels as a means to showcase and promote Nigeria's rich cultural heritage,” our source declared.
ITREALMS gathered that those at the meeting held at the Commission's Headquarters Abuja, comprised the Executive Commissioner Technical Services, Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Engr. Abraham Oshadami; Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, Executive Secretary/ CEO, National Institute for Cultural Orientation, NICO; Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, NCC; Mr. Michael Ekoko, Director, Research and Documentation, NICO; Mr. Reuben Muoka, Director Public Affairs, NCC among others.
NICO, ITREALMS recalled, was established by Act 93 of 1993, as a joint initiative of the Federal Government and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), a specialized agency of the United Nations with NICO mandate extended to training well-informed cultural officers, motivators and communicators on Nigerian cultural realities for development. Whereas NCC prides itself as the independent national regulatory authority for the telecommunications industry in Nigeria that supports a market driven communications industry that promotes universal access for all.
