The Lagos State Advocacy Team (SAT) has called on the appropriate authorities in Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) to take proactive measures in making healthcare facilities more appealing to the community dwellers, reports ITREALMS.
during a courtesy visit to the Medical Officer for Health (MOH), Eredo LCDA with regards to Odomola PHC, Dr. Fehintola Bolaji.
Mrs Aipoh emphasizes that community stakeholders are used to resolve issues identified in the health centres while untreated issues are escalated to the Local Government once it is beyond the community level.
Also, the TB network State Coordinator identified some issues at Odomola PHC, including bad signpost, inadequate chairs and tables, insufficient consumables, no laboratory for tests, shelves, tables and chairs in the pharmacy.
Responding, Dr. Bolaji commended the team and assured that the council is making efforts at addressing issues identified by them.
Dr. Bolaji said that Odomola PHC is a special centre, even though the community dwellers act as if there is no need for the health facilities through burglary and vandalisation of the centre.
Concerning the signpost, she said, a positive move has been activated on it, and request has been made for staff.
The Medical Officer equally said that money for consumables will be sorted out if funds are available while drugs can not be stored in Odomola PHC pharmaceutical section to avoid being stolen.
"Drugs cannot be put in the pharmacy to avoid being stolen, however, there are enough drugs to cater for the patient's prescription while storage is in Eredo LCDA," she said.
As said by her, efforts are underway to get night security operative to safeguard the facilities as it can only boasts of day-security presently.
The State Coordinator, Network of People with HIV and AiDs, Mr Patrick Akpan called for painting of the fence to make it more attractive to the people for onward patronages.
Mr Akpan also said that the advocacy deals with gender-based issues, emphasizing on the need to report such cases treated at the health care facilities inorder to get justice for the victims.
For the Project Officer, Mr. Taiwo Adakan, the team's effort is to make people more involved in the patronages of the health care facilities for their wellbeing.
