A wake-up call has been made to the community dwellers in Epe axis of Lagos State, to frequent the health facilities in their domain like the Primary Health Centres (PHC) established to solely provide health services delivery to them, reports ITREALMS.
This call was made by the Vice Chairman, Epe Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Sikiru Adeniyi Owolomoshe while receiving the State Advocacy Team (SAT) in his office on Monday.
The Lagos ATM State advocacy team led by Mrs Ifelunwa Aipoh, restated the team visit to the council was borne out of the desire to strengthen the health sector in the State, by ensuring that the PHC facilities are up to standard and the community people receives adequate healthcare.

While at Odomola PHC, she noted there was no laboratory for tests, lack of shelves, tables, chairs in the pharmaceutical section, insufficient consumables, bad signpost, filing shelves for documents in the PHC.
She pointed out that at Agbowa PHC, issues identified were shortage of plastic chairs, lack of an X-ray machine, no ambulance, insufficient medical staff, shortage of medical supplies, lack of fridge, difficulty in paying electricity bill, need for a canopy, BP machine, fuel powered-generator, new baby scale, gene-expert machine, baby weighing scale and diesel.
The State Coordinator on Malaria control further enjoined the Vice Chairman to look into the issues identified in the various health centres and proffer solutions.
The Vice Chairman, Epe Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Sikiru Owolomoshe appreciated the team effort in fostering health care delivery in the State.
He stressed that people are insincere with the centre's infrastructures, once it is appreciated, more will be provided.
"People are not sincere with government's infrastructures, more orientation is required to sensitize them to appreciate the use of public health centres" he said.
Hon. Owolomoshe also said, low patronages as another lapses noticed by the administration.
According to him, the community people prefers to visit private clinics despite the huge investment to made on health care delivery accessible and provide succour for them.
The Vice Chairman promised to expedite actions on issues identified by the team, and emphasized that Afuye PHC does not render 24hours service but adequate security will be provided by the State corps to ensure safety at the health centre.
The Medical Officer for Health (MOH), Epe Local Government Area (LGA) Dr. Adeleke Awolesi whom joined through zoom,tenders his apologies and assured the team that necessary action will be taken to address the issues identified.
Dr. Awolesi, then called for the team's collaboration in the subsequent health programmes in the state.
Other team members were Mr. Patrick Akpan, State Coordinator on Network of People with HIV and AIDS, Project Officer, Mr. Taiwo Adakan among others.
