The Lagos State Advocacy Team (SAT) has urged community stakeholders, especially philanthropists, to be more involved in contributing to various health facilities within their domains, reports ITREALMS.
This call was made while the team visited the traditional high chief of Ikosi-Okearin in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Baale Oriyomi Francis Ekide, to intimate him about the need for philanthropists in their domain to be more committed on the running of health care facilities.
SAT team led, Mrs Ifelunwa Aipoh enjoin the high chief to from time to time checks the activities at the primary care center for utmost delivery services cum facilities standards.
Mrs Aipoh stressed the need to identify potential philanthropists in the community who can donate more equipment to the health centres for optimum service delivery.
In her words, the State Coordinator on malaria control, Mrs Bunmi Tejumola called for more stakeholders inclusion in facilities upgrade as this will foster proper healthcare delivery to the people.
Mrs Tejumola said the team's readiness in addressing issues of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) once reported by the victims in order to get medical treatment and justice.
For the State Project Officer (SPO), Mr. Taiwo Adakan highlighted issues identified in Ikosi-Isheri Primary Healthcare (PHC) such as inadequate chairs for patients, protective equipment comprising gloves, sanitizers, cotton wool, outdated scale, demanding that new scale should be provided.
Mr. Adakan further urged the traditional high chief to liaise with humanitarians in the community in the provision of a standardized-free dispensary to grant free drugs such as malaria drug etc to complement the purchased ones as an act of giving back to the community for greater rapport.
Responding, the traditional high chief, Ikosi-Okearin, Baale Oriyomi Francis Ekide promised to communicate all the issues raised to concerned philanthropists through the Community Development Association (CDA) Chairman whom he has a direct link with these individuals.
Baale Oriyomi expressed reliefs on the team's involvement on the issue of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) which in the past is worrisome and threatening in the community as early reportage led to be maligned by some unscrupulous officers.
Other SAT members on the visit included Mrs Blessing Obiuweobi who represented NEPHWAN State Coordinator, Mr. Patrick Akpan, community representative, Mr. Sunday Ayedogbon, Work Development Committee, WDC, Mrs Bukola Olaniyan among others.
