Lagos SAT visits Isolo LCDA vice chair, strengthens primary healthcare services - ITREALMS

The Lagost State Advocacy Team (SAT) of the AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB) Malaria (ATM) Networks, has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chairman, Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Hon. Sadiq Shakir Adeola in efforts to strengthen the health care services in the community, reports ITREALMS.

Leading the team, the State Coordinator on Tuberculosis (TB) network, Mrs Ifelunwa Aipoh said the courtesy visit has become imperative to bring to the fore the project's being implemented by ATM, which are AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria targeted at the total health beings of the people and State of the facilities in their domain.

Mrs Aipoh emphasized that the ATM networks are currently working in five (5) Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the State, including Isolo LCDA, stressing that community stakeholders resolved issues identified in the health centres while untreated issues are escalated to the local government administrators for prompt attention.


The team lead disclosed identified issues resolved at Isolo Primary Health Centre to include fixing of roof leakages and replacement of broken window louvers, while some of the unresolved issues at the time of this report, comprised bad toilets, inadequate chairs, whereas the make-shift tent for out-patients leaks when it rains which requires swift response.

Responding, the Vice Chairman, Isolo LCDA who doubles as Supervisor for Health, Hon. Sadiq Shakir Adeola appreciated the team's partnership with the Local Government in ensuring adequate health service at the primary facility.

He restates the Council's commitments on improving health facilities, noting that more budget allocation to Health sector is in the next budget amidst other sectors for proper health care delivery to community dwellers, considering the state of the primary health centres in the environs.

The Vice Chairman also stressed that there is a committee set up by the Local Government in fixing and renovation of the health facilities, and promised to address the issues identified by the SAT team.

Equally commenting on concerns on Gender-Based-Violence (GBV), the ATM, State Program Officer, Mr. Taiwo Adakan, pointed out that the organisation assists victim to get justice in consonance with Lagos State zero-tolerance to such with case managers in all the five Local Governments enlisted presently for advocacy.

The advocacy team to Isolo LCDA included State Coordinator on Malaria Control, Mrs Bunmi Tejumola, State Coordinator on Tuberculosis (TB) network, Mrs Ifelunwa Aipoh, State Coordinator, HiV/AIDS, Mr. Patrick Akpan represented by Mrs Blessing Obiuweobi.
