According to investigations by the Police, Adebayo Joshua Happiness lured his victim, a 21-year old graduate of Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa, Awesu Mojisola to after graduation party only to kill her and made away with her iPhone 11 Pro and N15,600 at the early hours of August 10, 2024.

Also his parents and one other were alongside on Wednesday arraigned before an Ilorin Chief Magistrate Court for the alleged murder of Awesu Mojisola.

The Police prosecutor, ASP Isaac Yakub, alleged Mojisola was lured to an Ilorin hotel under the guise of attending a post-graduation party on August 10, 2024, where she was allegedly killed by Happiness.

Other suspects were Happiness’ parents Adebayo Adeniyi (51) Bukola Adeniyi (49), and Timileyin Kolawole (24).

The suspects were accused of deceiving Mojisola into believing she was attending a sign-out party, only to end her life in the hotel room.

They are facing charges of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, theft, false impersonation, and destruction of evidence under various sections of the Penal Code and Cybercrime Prevention and Prohibition Law.

ASP Yakub told the court that Mojisola’s disappearance was reported on August 14, 2024, by her roommate, Blessing Ogungbenro, after she lost contact with Mojisola.

The prosecution further revealed that Happiness’ mother helped him hide the victim’s SIM card, while his father concealed the stolen iPhone in a family car.

The defence counsel, Mr A. Iwalaye, prayed the court to grant bail to the suspects, assuring the court of their readiness to appear regularly in court and provide reliable sureties.

However, the prosecutor opposed the bail application, citing the seriousness of the crime.

Chief Magistrate Wahab Saka, in his ruling, ordered the remand of all suspects at the Federal Correctional Center, Oke Kura, Ilorin.

The case has been adjourned to September 12, 2024, for further hearing.
