He also pointed out that rather than adding to the problems of humanity, this will afford officers to be remembered and celebrated individually, after they might have retired from Nigeria Police Force.

The Commander made these known at a retirement ceremony organised in honour of Admin Officer Makinde Police Division, Mrs. Babatunde Tayo, organised by the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Makinde Police Station chapter in Oshodi, Lagos State.

He urged serving police officers that living dog is better than a dead lion because when you have life you have everything.

“Serving police officers should try to make heaven, they should not think that service in police force is all about money but they should think about their lives,” he admonished.

Okafor, noted that PCRC has taken policing to the next level as they are committed in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force by fostering cordial relationship between the Police and community in order to prevent crime and criminalities.

He also said that police alone cannot prevent crimes and criminalities in community without the help and useful information from community members.

Okafor explained that PCRC is a community policing based organization established by the leadership of Nigeria Police Force in 1984 to foster a partnership between the Police and the community with a view to enhancing efficient and effective policing in the country.

“These committees across the country are doing well” he declared.

The Commander equally urged PCRC members to continue to do well.

“Do not be tired because if you thank a king for what he has done he will do more. I am thanking you on behalf of Lagos State Police Commissioner. I have come to thank PCRC members in Makinde Police Division.”

Stressing that “If you sow good seed what you will reap is good and if you sow bad seed what you will reap is bad, therefore I urge all PCRC members to continue to do good.”

He noted that the celebrant has ended well stressing that other Police officers who are still serving should emulate her and try to end well to the glory of God.

The Commander prayed for celebrant. “As you have moved to next level of life, you are now a senior citizen. The lord will uphold you and move you from strength to strength. You shall not be weary, weak and you shall know peace. The Lord will bless you and your household beyond your expectation in the mighty name of Jesus Amen.

The celebrant, Babatunde Tayo, commended PCRC for the event and prayed that God will bless them in their efforts.

According to Tayo, she served her 35 years in police with fear of God therefore police officers should serve in fear of God.

“I never new people were watching me to see the attitude and character. But I give glory to God that everything came out good. I pray that whatever that will make us to lose heaven in Nigeria Police may God never allow it to happen.”

Also speaking, the General-Secretary, PCRC Makinde Police Division, Elder George Okoye, said because the celebrant was good and friendly during her service in police the PCRC members decided to honour her.

He advised community members to be good to police so as for police to be also good to them as well.

“Some community members used to be hash with police which is reason police used to be hash on them therefore, they should change their character” he advised.
