NLNG Media prize goes to Prisca Sam-Duru of Vanguard Newspapers for storytelling - ITREALMS

The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) managements has recognized the media for exceptional coverage of The Prizes for Literature, Prizes for science in the last twenty years with the sum of 5million Naira doled out to Prisca Sam-Duru of Vanguard Newspapers, for her excellent story-writing in Literature and Science in the last twenty years, reports ITREALMS.

In his welcoming speech, the General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Nigeria LNG Limited, Mr. Andy Odeh appreciated the immense contributions of the media in sharing the significance of the awards to the public over the past two decades.

"It is an honour to stand before you today to celebrate the remarkable achievement of the Nigeria Prizes of Literature, Prizes of Science, as it is indeed my pleasure as I commend each one of you, on exceptional coverage and unwavering commitments of the prestigious awards and prizes that we had for twenty years and getting stronger.

In a world where information is in abundance, it takes skill, passion and integrity to distil  stories and share them with the public as you do" he said.

Odeh also expressed optimism on the exceptional media coverage which has brought to the forefront significance of the awards by amplifying the voices of the Literary cartels and innovators far and wide.

The Genera Manager, stressed NLNG partnership with media, starting from next year to sponsor "Prizes for Energy Reporting" in 2025.
 
In her keynote address, a renowned columnist and former Osun State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode said NLNG is a worthy example as their primary assignment and extending it beyond the borders of what they do, stressing that NLNG remains a dominant figure of selflessness and altruism when it comes to looking beyond its primary assignment to celebrate voices of impact that are breaking new grounds across other fields of human endeavours.

Egbemode equally enjoined them to stick to the tenets of journalism by being objective in reportage, informing the public about the social-cultural, social-political and social-economics of the society.

The one-day event tagged "Celebrating the voices of impact, Nigeria Prizes @20," was held at Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State.

ITREALMS gathered that NLNG had received over 3,000 entries in the past 20 years with 18 winners for the prizes of Literature, and 19 winners in 12 years in Science.

The event was compered by Anike-Ade Funke Treasure who also moderated the fireside chat discussions with Business Day, Editor, Tayo Fagbule and Tolu Ogunlesi, a Journalist cum Poet.
