The National Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr. Vincent Olatunji, has stressed the role of data protection in unlocking Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for Lagos State, the commercial centre of the nation, reports ITREALMS.
He also commended Mr. President, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the foundation he laid in Lagos and the Lagos State Government for its efforts in advancing digital identity management and compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act.
Lagos State, he said, currently has 73 trained Data Protection Officers (DPOs) across various sectors but enjoined more integration of privacy into revenue-generating technologies.
Olatunji pointed out that building trust and confidence among residents, investors and businesses remain critical, bearing in mind that data protection is central to making a success of the relationship with business community.
He assured that the audience of NDPC’s commitment to fostering a culture of privacy in Lagos State through collaboration and innovation.
ITREALMS gathered that the summit which focused on strategies to expand Lagos State’s revenue base, attracted dignitaries.
