SAT visits Vice Chairman, Baale @Ifelodun LCDA, strengthen health facilities - ITREALMS

The Lagos State Advocacy Team (SAT) of the AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB) Malaria (ATM) Networks, has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chairman Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Adetoun Bolanle to intimate on the activities of the organisation to strengthen the primary health centres, reports ITREALMS.

The ATM team lead, Mrs Ifelunwa Aipoh emphasized the need to briefed the vice chairman who also is the Supervisory Councilor for Health on the organisations activities in the communities which is aimed in identifying issues at the health care centres by the Community Based Organisations (CBOs), reaching out to stakeholders in the community to resolve such, while the unreserved issues are escalated to the local government or to the state for appropriate intervention.
In the same vein, the State Coordinator on Malaria Control, Mrs Bunmi Tejumola reiterated that the organisation is committed to service to humanity in ensuring health service delivery in Lagos State.

The ATM State Project Officer (SPO), Mr. Taiwo Adakan buttressed that the organisation is non-partisan,as the project is funded by global funds, with the sole aim of creating a strong mechanism at the health centres after the COVID-19 pandemic, while the objectives are being implemented in seven States of the federation which includes Lagos, Cross River, Ekiti, Anambra, and Plateau, among others.

Mr. Taiwo Adakan outlined five Local Governments in the State they have carried out outreaches to include Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Epe, Ojo, Oshodi-Isolo and Kosofe.

The State Project Officer mentioned another component of the project, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in which
the organisation assists victims to get justice in consonance with Lagos State zero-tolerance to such with active case managers in all the five Local Governments enlisted presently for advocacy.

"We have a platform which is called Taskforce platform, we have case managers in each of the local governments and they conduct what we called small group discussion, whenever they get any case that has to do with gender or human rights or Gender-Based Violence, they pick it up and escalate to the State, so that the victims can get justice," he said.

Responding, Hon. Adetoun Bolanle appreciated the team's visit, applauded the efforts in ensuring a viable health centre within the domain.

Also, Hon. Adetoun assured the team of communicating their visit to the chairman for expedite actions on respective issues identified at the facilities.

Also, the ATM team, met with the traditional high chief of Oridilu in Ifelodun LCDA, Baale Olatunji Lateef in his palace to express their delights on his readiness to assist the Community Based Organisations (CBOs) in getting stakeholders to assist in resolving some of the issues identified in the area.

On GBV, Baale Olatunji Lateef, frowned at such incidence, cited that such cases are not treated with levity in his domains as perpetrators are reported to appropriate authorities, just as he assured to notify them of subsequent cases.
