The Catholic Diocese of Ilorin has announced the passing of Bishop Emeritus Ayo-Maria Atoyebi OP, who departed this life on March 8, 2025, at 12:55 pm, reports ITREALMS.

According to a press statement available to ITREALMS by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ilorin, Most Rev. Anselm Pendo LAWANI, Bishop Ayo-Maria served the diocese with dedication, wisdom, and compassion from 1992 to 2019.

During his tenure, he was a steadfast leader, a passionate advocate for peace, and a devoted shepherd to his flock. As Bishop Emeritus, he continued to serve the diocese with grace and humility, offering guidance and counsel whenever needed.

The Catholic Diocese of Ilorin has expressed gratitude for Bishop Ayo-Maria's life, ministry, and unwavering commitment to the Lord and the Church. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

The diocese has called on the faithful to pray for the repose of Bishop Ayo-Maria's soul and for the consolation of his family and loved ones.

May he rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire the faithful to live out their faith with joy, hope, and charity.
