The petition, which was accompanied by six bags of documents allegedly containing signatures from over half of the 474,554 registered voters in the district, was deemed incomplete due to the lack of contact information for the petitioners.

According to INEC, the petitioners failed to provide a definite contact address, telephone numbers, and email addresses, as required by the Commission's Regulations and Guidelines for Recall.

The address provided, "Okene, Kogi State," was deemed insufficient for contacting the petitioners.

INEC emphasized that the recall of a legislator is the prerogative of registered voters who sign a petition indicating loss of confidence in their representative.

The Commission stated that it will be guided by the legal framework for recall and will announce the next steps once the petitioners comply with the requirements.

This development comes amidst controversy surrounding Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who has been involved in a dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over allegations of sexual harassment.²
