The Times Journalism Alumni Association (TJAA) has advanced plans to celebrate its former Director, Mr. Ndubuisi Ugbede, as he turns 70 in April, 2025, with a symposium, reports ITREALMS.
The symposium with the theme "TJAA Celebrating Ndubuisi Ugbede @70" ITREALMS gathered would take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the NUJ Council Secretariat, (Ladi Lawal House) 9A Iyalla Street, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, at 10:00am prompt.
A press statement available to ITREALMS, endorsed by the trio of TJAA president, Mr. Clifford Agugoesi, the chairperson and secretary, Local Organising Committee (LOC) at TJAA, Messrs Muyiwa Lucas and Oretola Olamiju, respectively, revealed that there will be two insightful papers during the symposium, namely "Bridging the Gap in Journalism Education in Nigeria and Beyond" and "Ethical Journalism in the Past Century and the Missing Links."
They also noted that these presentations will stimulate meaningful discussions and reflections on the state of journalism education and practice in Nigeria.
"We are delighted to celebrate Mr. Ugbede's remarkable life and contributions to journalism. This symposium is a testament to his enduring legacy and impact on our profession," Mr Agugoesi said.
They further invited all members of the journalism community in the print, broadcast and online as well as academia and the public to attend the symposium and join in celebrating Mr. Ugbede's milestone birthday.
ITREALMS recalled that Times Journalism Alumni Association (TJAA) is a non-profit organization founded since 2018 and dedicated to promoting excellence in journalism, education in addition to supporting the professional development of its members.
