The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has estimated the sum of N1.3 trillion as what Nigerians lost to fraudulent online investment platform, CryptoBank Exchange (CBEX), reports ITREALMS.
This is coming as InterPol has joined forces to hunt leaders of CBEX in the Nigeria scam.
EFCC also said it duly warned Nigerians to be wary of the exchange which it likened to a Ponzi scheme.
CBEX, a Chinese online digital investment scheme, reportedly crashed on Monday leading to the loss of N1.3 trillion belonging to Nigerian investors
According to the spokesperson of the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, who was a guest on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Wednesday, said that the Commission had taken steps to enlighten Nigerians about the dangers of the criminal schemes.
He recalled that CBEX is not the only investment scheme that has defrauded Nigerians in recent history. There was the ill-fated MMM which ruined many Nigerian homes as thousands of investors lost their funds.
ITREALMS gathered that several videos surfaced on social showed some Nigerians lamenting the loss of their funds to CBEX scam.
