The pionner chairman, MTN Nigeria, and founder of Diamond Bank, Chief Pascal Gabriel Dozie, has passed away at the age of 85 years, reports ITREALMS.

He died on Tuesday, just a day before his 86th birthday, due to age-related illnesses.

ITREALMS gathered that Chief Dozie was born on April 9, 1939, in Egbu, Owerri, Imo State. He excelled academically from an early age whereas attending Our Lady's School in Emekuku and later studied economics at the London School of Economics, earning a degree and a master's in administrative science from City University in London.


Dozie's impact on Nigeria's banking and telecommunications sectors is undeniable, even as he founded Diamond Bank in 1991, which later merged with Access Bank. His vision and leadership transformed the bank into a respected industry name.


As chairman of MTN Nigeria, Dozie played a pivotal role in driving the country's mobile telecommunications revolution.

Also, he founded the African Development Consulting Group, working with notable clients like Nestle and Pfizer.

Dozie's leadership and contributions earned him national recognition, including the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) honor. 

He is survived by his wife, Chinyere, and five children.

ITREALMS further gatherrd that his legacy as a pioneering entrepreneur and influential leader in Nigeria's business landscape will endure.
